Today we’re interviewing Javier Coira Vieito, SAP Consultant at Grupo Inprosec. We hope you enjoy learning about his experience working at our company.
What is your role within Inprosec?
Currently, my role as an SAP Consultant is to ensure the security of the systems. My day-to-day work is very varied: it ranges from preparing security reports to audit user access and manage user onboarding or offboarding, to handling daily tickets and analyzing and updating system roles to keep everything in order.
What would you highlight about your role within the company?
I’d say problem-solving skills. Since I’ve done a bit of everything since I joined, I think I’ve developed a good analytical ability. For example, I find it interesting to investigate and be able to pinpoint exactly why a user’s offboarding went wrong, or to find the root cause of an error. In the end, day-to-day work is largely about knowing how to find solutions to those things.
What has Inprosec meant for your professional career?
Inprosec is my first job and it’s been a great opportunity. I started in the IT department, which allowed me to see how the company works from the inside and to build relationships with all the departments. Later, I was given the opportunity to move into SAP. I really value that they’ve always trusted me and that I keep being given more responsibility.
How do you manage to balance your personal and professional life?
Honestly, since we’re so flexible, I have no trouble organizing my time. What matters at Inprosec is that they trust you: they know that as long as you get the work done, you can organize yourself however works best for you. That helps a lot with work-life balance.
What do you value most about working at a company like Inprosec?
What I value most is that there are always new projects. That keeps you from getting stuck in a rut, because it lets you keep learning about many different things and working across different areas.
Tell us an anecdote that stood out to you from a particular stage at Inprosec.
More than a specific anecdote, what stays with me is how curious it is to see how things change. When I first joined Inprosec in the IT department, I never imagined I’d end up as an SAP consultant, and yet, here I am.
As an employee of a company specialized in cybersecurity, what advice would you give any business owner just starting out when it comes to their systems?
My advice would be not to leave security for last. Companies often start granting employees access and permissions without much control, just to get by and work quickly, and that ends up being a problem later on. If you keep things organized and know from the start who can access what, you save yourself a lot of problems in the long run.
What are your hobbies after work?
I’m pretty simple when it comes to that. Mostly, I really enjoy the days when I have a football match to unwind a bit, and otherwise, the best plan is always meeting up with friends for a drink.
