Inprosec People & Talent: Daniel Liñares

Today we’re interviewing Daniel Liñares, SAP Consultant at Grupo Inprosec. We hope you enjoy learning about his experience working at our company.

What is your role within Inprosec?

My position at the company is SAP Consultant. I’m mainly responsible for managing access to the different SAP functionalities and modules, as well as the risk analysis associated with the requests we receive. My work is focused on ensuring that users have the access and permissions they need to do their jobs, while always maintaining the established security and control criteria.

What would you highlight about your role within the company?

I would highlight the ability to adapt. Every company and user has different needs, so it’s important to understand each case and adapt to its particularities in order to give the best possible response.

What has Inprosec meant for your professional career?

Inprosec is my first professional experience in the consulting world and an opportunity to keep growing within the field of cybersecurity. It allows me to gain new knowledge, take on different challenges, and get a close-up view of what it’s really like to work with different clients and needs.

How do you manage to balance your personal and professional life?

I think flexibility is very important for balancing personal and professional life. I try to organize my time well and keep a separation between the two areas, but having a flexible work environment, like the one Inprosec provides, makes achieving that balance much easier.

What do you value most about working at a company like Inprosec?

What I value most about working at Inprosec is, besides the flexibility it offers, its commitment to new talent. I think it’s very positive that people who are just starting out in their professional careers are given the opportunity to join a field like cybersecurity, learn, and grow within the company.

Tell us an anecdote that caught your attention from a situation during your time at Inprosec.

One of the things that has struck me most in my job is discovering that something that may seem simple at first glance, like requesting access to a particular SAP functionality, can actually be quite a bit more complex than it appears. In some cases, when analyzing a specific access request, I’ve found that the associated role included other transactions or permissions that could create risks not necessarily needed by the user.
This made me realize how important it is to analyze access as a whole, rather than simply granting the requested permission.

As an employee of a company specializing in cybersecurity, what advice would you give to any business owner who is just starting out when it comes to their systems?

My advice would be to make security a priority from the very beginning. When a company is just starting out, it’s easy to focus on business growth and push system security into the background. Establishing solid foundations from the start can prevent problems down the road.

What are your hobbies after work?

After work, I really enjoy reading, going to the gym, and attending cultural events whenever I can.

Who do you “nominate” for us to interview next, and why?

Julia García Guille, because I think she’s someone who can give some interesting answers we can all learn from.
