On March 18, 2026, we held the webinar “Role Management and Security in an SAP S/4HANA Migration”, delivered by Ramón Ferreiro Dávila, Senior Consultant at Inprosec, in collaboration with CUVIV. In this session, we explored how to design and adapt an efficient, secure access model aligned with SAP best practices for S/4HANA migration projects.
During the webinar, we addressed the main challenges of role management, authorizations and security in the context of the transition to S/4HANA, taking into account the implications of the end of support for SAP Business Suite 7 and the specificities of each migration approach.
Key Topics Covered
SAP Support Context and Strategy
We reviewed the SAP Business Suite 7 maintenance roadmap (mainstream until 2027, extended until 2030) and why migration is the ideal moment to revisit security and the role model.
Architecture and Transition Approach Impact
We analysed how On-Premise vs Cloud and New Implementation vs System Conversion affect security responsibilities and authorisation design. We identified the optimal moment to improve the system (before, during or after migration).
Role Model and SU25 Transaction
We explained the objectives of a best-practice-based model (reducing SoD risks and maintenance effort) and how to adapt roles to S/4HANA: GUI/Fiori access, new authorisation objects, SU22/SU24 and SU25 options (manual review recommended).
Fiori Application Management and SAP Security Baseline
We showed how to integrate Fiori using the SAP Fiori Apps Library and how to apply the SAP Security Baseline standard (available since 2021) in ERP 6.0 systems during migration.
SAP Security Solutions Portfolio
We reviewed key tools: SAP GRC, Cloud ALM, UI Masking/Logging, Enterprise Threat Detection and their evolution towards 2027 and upcoming GRC versions.
Conclusions
The webinar demonstrated that effective role and security management in an S/4HANA migration requires strategic planning: choosing the right architecture and approach, applying the SAP Security Baseline, reviewing SU25 in a controlled manner and preparing the model for Fiori and future updates. This approach not only minimises risks and simplifies maintenance, but also aligns the system with compliance standards and prepares the organisation for the new SAP support cycle.
