One of the main cyber security trends in 2017 will be the rise of denial of service attacks.
Last week, Thirty-four people, including several teenagers, have been arrested in an international police macro-operation for having caused the suspension or serious damage to various online services through denial-of-service attacks (DDoS). The detentions were carried out in thirteen countries between the past five and nine of December; 12 of them within the United Kingdom from an investigation carried out by the National Agency against the Crime (NCA).
It is suspected that these subjects would have used software called Netspoof to derive large volumes of traffic to certain sites or web servers, with the aim of collapsing in a short time the capacity of the systems and, finally, making the service unusable.
