{"id":9203,"date":"2023-07-06T08:32:59","date_gmt":"2023-07-06T06:32:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/?p=9203"},"modified":"2024-05-16T13:23:15","modified_gmt":"2024-05-16T11:23:15","slug":"grc-pc-ccm-with-sap-hana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/en\/grc-pc-ccm-with-sap-hana\/","title":{"rendered":"GRC PC CCM with SAP HANA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GRC Process Control, specifically Continuous Control Monitoring (CCM), is an SAP tool that allows for active monitoring of SAP systems and identification of deviations that occur in processes.<\/p>\n<p>To achieve this, the first step in CCM is to develop the rule that will monitor the system and trigger an alert in case of any problematic cases.<\/p>\n<p>Some examples of rules that can be implemented are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Changes in critical fields of master data (customers, suppliers, general ledger accounts, etc.).<\/li>\n<li>Adjustments with balances exceeding a certain amount.<\/li>\n<li>Changes in the configuration of the SAP system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The SAP GRC PC tool itself provides mechanisms to facilitate the construction of these rules. Additionally, other SAP tools such as <em>queries<\/em> can be used to retrieve data.<\/p>\n<p>However, the capabilities of this CCM module are enhanced with the emergence of SAP HANA and the shift from a <em>Data to Code<\/em> paradigm to a new <em>Code to Data<\/em> paradigm.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-9187 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/GRC-PC-CCM-con-SAP-HANA-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"358\" height=\"132\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/GRC-PC-CCM-con-SAP-HANA-1.png 778w, https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/GRC-PC-CCM-con-SAP-HANA-1-300x111.png 300w, https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/GRC-PC-CCM-con-SAP-HANA-1-600x221.png 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 358px) 100vw, 358px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With this new paradigm, the maximum amount of necessary calculations is delegated to the database (HANA), and only the minimum amount of information is returned to the application server.<\/p>\n<p>To implement this new model, SAP introduces a new model known as <em>Core Data Services<\/em> (CDS). To use it, the Eclipse IDE can be installed.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-9189 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/GRC-PC-CCM-con-SAP-HANA-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"486\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/GRC-PC-CCM-con-SAP-HANA-2.png 791w, https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/GRC-PC-CCM-con-SAP-HANA-2-300x208.png 300w, https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/GRC-PC-CCM-con-SAP-HANA-2-600x416.png 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once the installation is complete, a component must be added to integrate it with the SAP programming environment. Its name is <em>ABAP Development Tools<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-9191 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/GRC-PC-CCM-con-SAP-HANA-3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"701\" height=\"302\" the necessary queries can be developed to create the rules.<\/p>\n<p>In the example shown below, a control will be performed that extracts general customer data (KNA1) crossed with customer information at the company level (KNB1).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9193 aligncenter\" simply create the Data Source and the Business Rule in the same way as they would be created traditionally.<\/p>\n<p>Below is the created <em>Data Source<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" in the module, programming would be required to make the control fully operational.<\/p>\n<h2>CONCLUSIONS<\/h2>\n<p>We can conclude that using the SAP CCM module with CDS View provides the following advantages compared to traditional data extraction methods (SAP Queries, etc.):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Increased performance.<\/li>\n<li>Greater flexibility to create complex queries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Given the aforementioned advantages, it is recommended to use controls with this new paradigm in scenarios where a large amount of data needs to be processed or when extensive customization is required by
