Previously, in the ECC ERP the SAP\u00ae Licenses available were the followings:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SAP\u00ae Developer<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SAP\u00ae Bus. Suite Professional<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SAP\u00ae Bus. Suite Limited Prof<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SAP\u00ae Employee<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, with the S4HANA application SAP\u00ae Licenses that are available are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">S\/4 HANA Developer access<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">S\/4HANA Enterprise Management for Professional use<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">S\/4HANA Enterprise Management for Functional use.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">S\/4HANA Enterprise Management for Productivity Use.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Those Licenses Type are mostly related with the access that the SAP\u00ae User is having inside the S4 HANA SAP\u00ae System. The guidelines are described by SAP\u00ae in <a href=\"https:\/\/assets.cdn.sap.com\/agreements\/product-use-and-support-terms\/sur\/sap-list-of-prices-and-conditions-sap-software-and-support-sur-english---austria-v1-2023.pdf\">this link<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-9041 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/1-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"749\" height=\"428\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/1-1.png 1011w, https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/1-1-300x172.png 300w, https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/1-1-600x343.png 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 749px) 100vw, 749px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The difference between each of the S4HANA Licenses are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Productivity<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> user License is available for users that are having access to:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Supply Chain.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Asset Management<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Manufacturing<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Human Resources<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sourcing and Procurement<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Travel and Expense Management<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Display Use Rights<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Approval Use Rights<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Functional<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> user License is available for users that are having access to:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Supply Chain (Extended)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Manufacturing (Extended)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Asset Management (Extended)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Enterprise Technology.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">R&amp;D<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Service<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sales<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Human Resources<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sourcing and Procurement (Extended)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Travel and Expense Management (Extended)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Display Use Rights (Extended)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Approval Use Rights (Extended)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Professional<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> user License is available for users that are executing activities that were not included in the above list.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Developer<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> user License is available for users that are authorized to access the development tools.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So based on what was included in the previous document, it is important to understand that the <strong>SAP\u00ae license<\/strong> can vary depending on the access that the SAP\u00ae User is having assigned. Therefore, it is essential, in order to have the most efficiency when talking about SAP\u00ae Licenses, to have a Role Design that can segregate the activities that where included in S\/4 HANA License Types Document. Based on this assumption, when executing a Role Design Project, you will not only benefit from a reduction of Segregation od Duties and Critical Action Risk, but also from reduced Licensing costs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example, if you are mixing Transactions belonging to Supply Chain and Sales Area within the same role, you will not be able to identify which SAP\u00ae Users will require the S\/4HANA Productivity Use License or the S\/4HANA Functional use License.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In relation to this, there are previous articles about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/en\/how-to-be-prepared-for-a-role-design-project\/\">Role Model<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/en\/success-case-role-redesign-vceaa\/\">Role Redesign<\/a> that can help you in this task.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the other side, it is important to share some best practice that will help to the efficiency regarding SAP\u00ae Licenses:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>SAP\u00ae Locked Users<\/strong> are still counting for SAP\u00ae Licensing, so if you are designing a Dormant Users Policy, it is critical to define that a Dormant user needs to be expired inside the SAP\u00ae System. If you want to perform the lock inside the system, it is perfectly fine, but the most important action is to expire the SAP\u00ae User.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>SAP\u00ae Users without an assigned License<\/strong> will count as a Professional License, even if they are not having any role assigned.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0The <strong>SUIM Transaction<\/strong> will help you to understand how many SAP\u00ae Users\u00a0 did not log yet into the system. This is priority one when it comes to being efficient in SAP\u00ae Licensing.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Automation in SAP\u00ae User Licenses<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SAP\u00ae provides some tools inside the system for the SAP\u00ae Licensing automation:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">USMM Transaction<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SLAW Transaction<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">USMM will be specifically executed in one system and SLAW will be executed inside the Solution Management application, in order to gather all the information from the rest of SAP\u00ae systems.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>USMM Transaction<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This transaction will perform an <strong>automation for the assignment of the SAP\u00ae User License<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can assign an SAP\u00ae User License based on the SAP\u00ae Roles.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can assign a SAP\u00ae License based on the authorization objects that a SAP\u00ae User is having.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can assign a SAP\u00ae License according to User Group.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can assign a SAP\u00ae License based on the Transaction that a SAP User is having.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9043\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/2-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"585\" height=\"396\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/2-1.png 585w, https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/2-1-300x203.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 585px) 100vw, 585px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These rules will be applicable when running the user measurement through the USMM2 Transaction:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9045\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/3-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"569\" height=\"283\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/3-1.png 569w, https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/3-1-300x149.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 569px) 100vw, 569px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When reviewing the measuring you will find each of the user IDs with the corresponding SAP\u00ae User License. It is important to <strong>perform a review before sending the information directly to SAP\u00ae<\/strong>. Please, remember to review all SAP\u00ae Accounts that were not logged inside the system to ensure that those accounts are expired, because the lock is not enough to exclude it from the License Measurement. On the other side, if there is an account inside the system that is not classified, the user measurement will classify it as Default. Therefore, the most expensive License Type will be assigned (Professional use License).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/help.sap.com\/doc\/saphelp_nw73ehp1\/7.31.19\/en-US\/48\/c7d562f1fd154ee10000000a421937\/content.htm?no_cache=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">This documentation<\/a> will provide information about the priorities of the License assignments. This is really important since some operation will override the rules that were configured through <strong>USMM Transaction<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">USMM also has a functionality to extract SAP\u00ae user license information in the SLAW format. It is important to state that USMM will work individually, but the SLAW Transaction will perform the aggregation when you have different SAP\u00ae applications.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>SLAW Transaction<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This Transaction allows to <strong>add all the information related to SAP\u00ae User License from other SAP\u00ae applications<\/strong>. Therefore, if your organization has 2 different ECC Application or other SAP Application, you can perform a global measurement in order to understand the global picture of the SAP\u00ae User Licenses that you are using. Furthermore, launching this Global Measurement is required to previously configure the USMM Transaction in each of the plug-in systems to gather all the information. The SLAW can aggregate the information using the RFC connections to the Plug-in system or you can upload the USMM file individually.
