Because of this we want to explain how the process has been from the first moment.<\/p>\n<p>This case was presented at the<a href=\"http:\/\/sapinsiderevents.wispubs.com\/2015\/Europe\/BI-FIN-GRC-HANA-HR\/GRC\/Tracks\/Access-control-role-design-and-segregation-of-duties\/Session?ID=3A11B751-BE4D-4DF5-B747-582E193E3927\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em> SAP GRC Europe Event in Nice on June 18, 2015<\/em>.<\/a><\/p>\n\n<p>VCEAA is the subsidiary of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.votorantimcimentos.es\/es-es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Votorantim Cimentos<\/a> in Europe, Africa and Asia. Votorantim Cimentos is one of the <strong>TOP 10 largest cement companies in the world:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Imagen7.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-3335 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Imagen7.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"835\" height=\"401\" \/><\/a><\/h2>\n<h2><strong>The Challenge<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The difficulty of the role redesign was the existence of different SAP systems <strong>for each of the countries<\/strong>, which made the project tasks difficult since it was necessary to <strong>replicate the entire role model for each of the SAP systems<\/strong>. On the other hand, <strong>each country had a different role model, one based on users, one based on positions and one based on tasks\/activities.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>These two points meant, on the one hand, that the security teams managing the roles had different strategies that prevented centralization, and on the other hand, the lack of a global nomenclature made the management and provisioning of roles very difficult.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Inprosec Solution<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Due to the need to comply with the SoX regulation, the project was divided into two phases, the first focused on a drastic<strong> reduction of access to reduce risks and SoD conflicts<\/strong> that were not required by users and a second phase where the <strong>basis of a new role model would be defined, based on global best practices<\/strong>, so that countries would follow the same criteria in role management.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Previously, roles were managed locally<\/strong> and without a clear definition when it came to creating roles. To give an example, the situation was:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tunisia followed a Position-based role model.<\/li>\n<li>Morocco had a mixed role model based on Nominal User and Position.<\/li>\n<li>Turkey had a mixed role model based on Named User and Position.<\/li>\n<li>Spain had a Task-based role model.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The first phase of the project to <strong>eliminate unused accesses<\/strong> resulted in the reduction of 1160 Role Segregation Risks.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Imagen6.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-3334 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Imagen6.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"575\" height=\"373\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The second phase focused on the <strong>definition and authorization of the new task-based role model:<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Imagen5.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3333 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Imagen5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"544\" height=\"165\" \/><\/a><\/h2>\n<p>The tasks are aligned with the technical roles and the grouping of the roles would generate the role of the position which technically would be implemented by composite roles.<\/p>\n<p><a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Imagen4.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3332 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Imagen4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"508\" height=\"251\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Results<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The total <strong>number of roles generated<\/strong> with the new role model is detailed in the following table for each country:<\/p>\n<p><a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Imagen3.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-3331 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Imagen3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"655\" height=\"183\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>risk reduction<\/strong> obtained throughout this project was close to <strong>70%<\/strong>, which represents a great reduction of effort on the execution of mitigating controls. The reduction for each of the countries is detailed below:<\/p>\n<p><a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Imagen2-3.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3330 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Imagen2-3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"544\" height=\"144\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Finally, and the reduction that had the greatest impact on the presentation of the case was the <strong>96.5% reduction in SoD conflicts<\/strong> and that exceeded the total of 1 million SoD conflicts remediated:<\/p>\n<p><a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/VCEAA.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3329 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inprosec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/VCEAA.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"544\" height=\"126\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of the biggest success stories of our company has been the implementation of a role redesign project based on best practices that reduced more than 96.5% of the Role Segregation Conflicts that existed in different SAP systems.
